Melbourne, Australia – March 29, 2006 – Australian healthcare solutions provider
TrakHealth today announced it has won a contract, valued in excess of $10 million, to
provide its TrakCare Web-based healthcare information system (HIS) to Community
Health agencies within the Victorian Department of Human Services.
TrakHealth won the contract under a competitive tender conducted by the Department of
Human Services to deliver quality Community Health information solutions throughout
the state under the Victorian government’s $324 million HealthSMART program.
The solution will provide Community Healthcare professionals with fingertip access to
client information that supports improved co-ordination between agencies, more efficient
delivery of services, and better health outcomes for the residents of Victoria.
One of the Department of Human Services’ key requirements was the ability for the
ommunity Health information solution to integrate with Victoria’s state-wide healthcare
integration rchitecture. TrakHealth will meet this integration requirement with its ‘FastTrak to ePR’ rapid integration capability.
The TrakCare implementation will be based on a standard state-wide product definition
that will be deployed to all Community Health agencies with minimal configuration
changes, maximising the capacity for rapid rollout.
TrakHealth has subcontracted leading IT services firm EDS for the implementation, with
the first sites expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2006/first quarter 2007. “This contract provides independent community health services the opportunity to
participate in a state-wide co-ordinated and integrated information systems rollout for the
first time in Victoria,” said Health Minister Bronwyn Pike. “This will improve client care,
standardise client data and allow more time for health professionals to spend with
clients.
“More than 150 health care professionals have been involved in selecting the TrakHealth
product. Such extensive consultation with users has ensured that the product has been
selected for health care professionals, by health care professionals,” Ms Pike said. “Victoria, with the HealthSMART program, is the second Australian state to make world
class Community Health information systems from TrakHealth available across a wide
range of agencies,” said Darren Jones, TrakHealth’s General Manager. “The
implementation of TrakCare will ensure that Victorian Community Health professionals
have access to the right information at the right time and place, improving efficiency and
promoting better healthcare outcomes.”
