Sydney, Australia, 27 September 2006 - Australian healthcare solutions provider,
TrakHealth and Portugal Telecom successfully completed, in record time, the first
implementation of TrakCare’s integrated health management system in Centro
Hospitalario de San Francisco, in Leiria, Portugal. This hospital is part of Grupo
Português de Saude, the second largest private healthcare group in Portugal, with a
total of 11 hospitals throughout the country.
In only seven months, TrakHealth and Portugal Telecom met the challenge to integrate
all of the hospitals in this group, reduce costs, and improve customer service. The first of
eight hospitals that will rely on this solution is already applying the new system in three
of its external patient admission centres. These centres are managed through the
TrakCare solution for admissions, discharges, emergencies, surgeries, pharmacy and
invoicing departments from the group’s head office.
TrakCare will make the health sector more open, more stable, and more
customer/patient focused, all through Web technologies.
The newly-implemented system, Information Healthcare Systems (in Portuguese,
Sistema de InformaÇão de Cuidados de Saúde – SICS), is based on SAP’s Business
One ERP, and Australia-based TrakHealth’s TrakCare HIS solution. This international
model has already been implemented in several international hospitals as well as in
other hospitals in Portugal, including Santa Casa da Misericordia, SAMS, and Hospital
Ortopédico de Santa Ana. However, this is the first project that includes a major
Healthcare Information System being mplemented by TrakHealth and Portugal
Telecom.
"TrakCare will help the health sector become more transparent, more stable, and more
customer/patient focused, all through Web technologies” says Luciano Brustia,
TrakHealth Client Services Manager, Continental Europe. He adds, “Our priority is to
develop and implement systems that help keep the high level of care for the patients”.
Grupo Português de Saúde, owned entirely by Grupo Sociedade Lusa de Negócios
SGPS, SA/Banco Português de Negócios, SA, is the second largest private Portuguese
operator in the healthcare sector, with 67 € million in invoices in 2004.
Grupo Português de Saúde works in three healthcare areas: hospitalisation care,
specialised care and diagnosis, and network management. The hospitals within Grupo
Português de Saúde are the British Hospital Lisbon XXI, the British Field Hospital of
Ourique, Centro Hospitalar de San Francisco, Unimed, Microcular - Center of Eye
Microsurgery Laser and Diagnosis, and Cedima. The group also has management
agreements with Hospital de S. Louis, in Lisbon, and Hospital de Santa Maria, in Porto.
